•A factory fresh AR lower receiver that has never been part of a firearm can be used to build a pistol, carbine or rifle. If a lower receiver is built into and registered as a pistol first, it can be stripped down and converted into a rifle in the future. If the receiver built into a carbine or rifle first, it must always remain part of a rifle and cannot ever be used to build a pistol.

No I get that. I was questioning the accusatory nature of your post.

What was "accusatory" concerning my post?
Because I care, I carry.

Did you buy it as a rifle and then converted it to a pistol? That is not legal.

What do they mean by "registered as a pistol"? A lower transfers as "other". Maybe in states where registration is required but that's still a state vs federal issue.

I would assume they mean transferred as a rifle. It was not too long ago that FFLs would ask if your lower was going to be a rifle or a pistol and you had to make sure they put other in to have options.

Yeah, I understand that but they started transferring as other well before that article. It’s just messy to begin with but poorly written articles don’t help.

I grabbed a psa super short pistol with sb brace for 499. It’s super fun. Cheap. I’d grab a pistol but then again I’d never compete where it would need to be a stocked rifle.
