Can I carry a BB gun pistol without a permit etc? I'd like to take one with me when in the woods.

You do not need a permit to carry in the woods provided those woods are open to such activities, i.e. not in most municipalities.

Most metro municipalities' codes make little distinction between firearms, bows/ arrows, slingshots, airguns, with regards to discharging such devices.

Archery equipment is OK at a defined range, otherwise pretty much all is verboten.
