Anyone compete an 80% pistol?

Postby jdege on Fri Jun 01, 2018 4:51 pm

I ran across 80% 1911 kits, a year or so ago.
I wasn't aware there were 80% Glock kits, but apparently there are.
And it looks to me as if they're easier to build.

Fwiw, as far as Glocks go, there are 4 different sizes available by 2 different companies. Available are the 17, 19, 43 and the just released 26 sized. (I gave the 9mm designations, but can built for 40 and 357, too)

I did a glock frame. Had some rail alignment issues. The company was receptive and made it right, but it seemed like a lot of effort to me, and I would't do it again.

I just like to make things, and was wondering about the ergonomics compared to a stock Glock frame. I have no interest in "off paper" firearms for TEOTWAWKI scenarios, and am probably already on so many lists from buying bulk ammo etc... that I couldn't care less at this point. If having a ghost gun is your endpoint and desire, it worked (eventually) and went bang with a Brownell's slide and OEM glock internal parts kit for the upper. I used a threaded aftermarket barrel.
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.
