PTC renewal took 3 days

Postby aht_six on Sat Jul 14, 2018 8:13 am

The Mrs. and I submitted our PTC renewal applications to the Anoka County Sheriff's office on Tuesday afternoon, we received the new permits in the mail on Friday. Impressive efficacy. The cost for renewals has also been reduced to $50.

That’s quick, good for them. Should still be nearly instant.

Isn't Richfield in hennepin county? Did it change from the grain exchange building?

How many months before the permit expires can someone renew? Anyone know?

Richfield PD and the water patrol station in Spring Park accept apps on certain days.

I think I've read here that the knock on the "early"renewal is your new permit doesn't start at the expiration of your prior permit, therefore you could "forfeit" 30 or 60 days from the end of your previous permit. Not sure how valid that is.

NO! The renewal permit should be dated to expire 5 years after the expiration date of your old permit. (They may subtract one day for leap year.) Be sure to verify the date when you receive it. Whether you renew on the expiration date of the old permit or 90 days early, there is no difference in the expiration date of the renewal permit.

Remember, they still have 30 days to process the renewal permit, so if you renew less than 30 days before your old permit expires, you may be without a valid permit for a while.

Thanks for the responses. I was pretty sure it was 90 days. But my memory stinks. Thx for the confirmation.

As Westhope says, you will NOT lose time by renewing early. New permit will be effective the day the old one expires.

Prices for new permits and renewals should be coming down. That doesn't mean they will be, though. They have a new system in place that should cut down on the time spent per permit compared to the older system. You can read about it here:
