I assume based on lead times... but that's not to say for sure as there could be other factors that affect lead times.

They are a boutique manufacturer just like most custom 1911 shops that you have never heard of. Why spend money on marketing if demand is already exceeding your capacity?

Interestingly found this, looks like they were trying to raise $2 million late 2017 to pay off debt. At least I think that's what this says.

If that's right then that doesn't sound good for a company that small.

I think it just means they tried to go “public” and issue official stock versus having private investors. I am not an investment banker though...

Well if they are talking Nov of 2018, they missed the mark. Nov 2019, holly Hana. I’m betting it was 2018.

Maybe I'm just not in the right circles.

I’m with you on that. I’m just not at all a 1911 guy. They bore the **** out of me. But...if I were to have a 1911 framed gun, the Coonan would at least be interesting.

Well that is just blasphemous for a gun nut.

Now that you can get a variety of 1911's in 10mm at normal 1911 prices, it probably put a big dent in .357 sales at $2000.

Just my opinion but if it's a high power 1911 you want, 10mm makes a lot more sense than .357.

True. I see they do offer the Coonan in 10mm now.

Could not agree more! Every enthusiast should own at least one 1911 :)

Interesting observation. I own both but never thought about it this way since my Coonan 357 is just a fun range gun. To be honest I would never have bought it at their current list prices.

I think for some reason they also believed that their “coonanized” standard size 1911s will be popular and I have yet to meet anybody that owns one or even seen one at the range or a store.

The quality of their products do not support their current pricing, in my opinion. What do you all think?

I think mine was about $1,200 about 6 years ago. I thought it was worth that to me at the time. No I don't think it's a $2,000 gun and I wouldn't buy one in 45acp or 10mm. Too many other fine choices out there.

IMHO their marketing is a bit over the top, purporting that it's the greatest thrill and a shot fired in the air would go into orbit etc.
