It was not coming up for me earlier in the day. Even checked with one of the "is it down" sites and it said it was too.

Looks like the message has not changed. Still says end of November. Not sure why we are discussing it again.

Cause it is cold out and we have nothing else to discuss...

Cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey.

if you need further explanation of the phrase, ask ttousi - I'm pretty sure he was on active duty back in those days

We have really gotten wimpy as a society. I remember stretches of this type of weather every January growing up in northern MN. It sucked to try to get a car started in it but that was because we had old cars stored outside so... You dealt with it and went about your day.

Back in the early '70's, I rode my 2-stroke dirt bike to class at SDSU (South Dakota NOT San Diego) and parked it in the bicycle racks outside classrooms (working for Campus Cop helped). Fifteen minutes of fun & cold was much better than 1. Trying to start a car, 2. Scraping windows IF car started, 3. Driving to campus following roads, 4. Finding a parking spot, 5. Walking 15 minutes to classroom.
Repeat process to go home.

After installing studs in dirt bike tires enabling much improved traction I was able to jump the railroad tracks cutting my travel time in half. Also helped to lose a squad car following me, although the next day he was waiting for me on the other side. After relating the WHY and that the Campus Cop backed my process, he accepted IF I would put lights on dirt bike (lights were small but there). Brookings South Dakota very seldom plowed snow on side streets resulting in heavy snow pack which was great for studded tires, Sheet metal screw heads work great on ice, suck on snow. Install snowmobile track 1.25" carbide tipped studs really helped on all surfaces except bare concrete.

Back on Topic now.

What about if you park your new cars outside because the old cars are all inside tucked away for winter?

There was no such thing as a new car when I grew up

Anyone driven by recently to see the state of things? Website has not changed. Someone posted on Facebook yesterday that after much struggle they finally got a hold of Dan and was told that they will be back in business in a couple of weeks.

Dan's FB profile lists him as "former president" of D.C.I.

If you didn't get your gun or money back, you might never get it now. Whole shop sold last month.

That sucks. Hate to see a unique quality product line die.

Being a contract machine shop and being a product manufacturer are different beasts.

If I had to guess; the soft gun market hit when Dan tried going whole hog into the gun business again. He had multiple employees and a big shop. You need to push volume to keep all those mouths fed.

He's retirement age, so I'm thinking pulling the plug made the most sense to him.

* I've been in the same room with Dan Coonan 3x I'm aware of. I do not personally know him and the above is ALL speculation.
