Seems like it would be foolish to buy it without the surrounding property. Interestingly there is a big red spot on the old DPMS facility and driveway leading into the pistol bays. It's been a while since I have been up there so not even sure if there is anything in that building right now. It does not appear to be part of the sale which is a concern for access to the pistol and rifle ranges.

Do all the animal mounts go with the property?

Cause, um....that full body rhino is probably worth some coin...

Other people’s taxidermy is usually worth very little...

Look at some of the auctions of taxidermy on the web.

It’s all your own and family memories. In one way, inestimable value, in another, worthless.

No way that little lot with a few buildings is worth 1.3 mil.

I suspect he’s not that motivated to get rid of it. Either that or it’s a put up or shut up to the neighbors who want it shut down.

^^^^^^^^^^

The rifle portion of that range was dealt a serious blow when a round went over the berm a few years ago. That's why you see the shooting "windows" on the lanes. I think it's hanging on by a thread of being shut down.

I figure you'd only need to clear about $10K a month to pay the mortgage and insurance.

Payroll would be extra.

Full body Rhino and the exotics are worth more...not 1.3 mil more of course, but was just curious. Internet tells me a full body Rhino in good condition is around $25-30k.

Then maybe I should do mine that way and sell it. Just kidding... it’s against the law. Heck, USFWS reserves the right to come and verify you still have the thing...

Yes, a northern white rhino might get big bucks (they are extinct now)

Black rhino are still huntable in very limited circumstances, but sale of the mounts would be illegal in the absence of CITES documents proving it was in the US prior to 1973.

Southern White rhino (what is there) is also under CITES. Randy Luth could give it away, but can’t sell it, unless he shot it quite a while ago.

Just because it is not legal does not mean it can't be sold. Just pointing out the obvious. :P

You would be shocked how much money you could make off of hunting rhino if you had a failsafe way to get the horn to Hanoi or China and knew the right folks to take it to.

An average bull would bring in about a million bucks.

That is what drives the rhino poaching issue.

Similar, but not as lucrative for elephant.
