Army teaching poor rifle grip?

Postby Scratch on Wed Aug 26, 2020 1:43 pm

I was watching a Shooting USA show today. It was recorded a while ago. They were showing coverage of the 2019 All Army Small Arms Championship at Fort Benning.
There was one shooter there (a Major) who was competing, who I noticed had a very unusual off hand grip on his rifle...

Maybe he is preparing for being sent to war. Broken thumb sends you back home.

Isn’t that unit patch a USMC patch?

Unless someone is using the wrong side of their phone, it's a right shoulder patch, which means prior service unit.
He may have been a Marine, and is Army now.

If the phone was reversed, so too would be the poster in the background.

Not just prior service. It denotes having been in combat with a certain unit.

I was in the 103rd COSCOM. We transitioned to the 88th ARCOM. No combat with either unit. When we transitioned I switched my patch on the left from the cactus to the crossed 8s. No patch on the right.

Hard to have been in combat when you you ran printing presses.

If he was in the marines, then that demonstrates it is possible to be an “ex marine” lol

Those guys take their rifle skills seriously.
