.22 long range matches- new Savage or my old Win 69?

Postby Bergie on Sun Oct 25, 2020 9:11 am

This might be one of those, "if you have to ask, you already know the answer". But it'd be fun to hear other's opinions...
Fads come and go of course, remember when 3-gun was all the rage. So now it seems like .22 long range matches are becoming popular. I think it's a cheap (less costly?) competition than other platforms so am wondering if I try it with my old Winchester 69 (with a butt pad because my dad cut down the stock when I was 10) or go drop the few hundred on a new Savage II FV. (the CZ 455 is nice, but more expensive)

You missed the 200yd Smallbore match at MRC by 2 weeks.

We'll (Post 435) have one in February.

Are these usually iron sights or scoped? If scoped, I may use my Jager with the whole nine yards! (jacket, mat, sling, glove, etc)

That might be fun to try with my old Marlin Model 99.
