+1

...can't beat the current bluetooth models, and a phone app.
Although that 5 rotor drone with the mini Hellfires is showing some promise.

So, you're in the woods, stumbling through a blizzard, in the process of freezing to death.

You find a cabin, and in it you find a stove, a fireplace, an oil lantern, a candle, and just one match.

Which do you light first?

Which gun do you carry or use the most ?
the choice should have been made while you were calm and collected and had time to think about it .

Which gun do you use? The closest. And you carry that while you get something better.

Claymores don't necessarily need a smart-phone app.........
laser trip wires and IR detectors make them self-aware...........

Well if you want them armed all the time sure they don't need an app. However if you want to live in your home as well...

I will try to give an actual answer. I'd consider if I were to miss, would the errant round penetrate or travel to harm someone it is not intended to. I think a shotgun with OO buckshot or slug for max CQ engagement. Large wound channel and a lot of mass. I would call the police first. Warn the intruder you are armed and the police are on the way.

At the risk of this turning into a serious, and relevant thread, there was a zoom presentation on the MN Gun Owners Caucus Facebook page about shotguns, and defense of dwellings. I don't want to attempt to describe all the particulars, but the experts quite logically challenged much of the conventional wisdom about ammunition. Slugs were out due to an extreme danger of over-penetration, to the point of leaving the building. As I know little about shotgun ammo, it was interesting to learn the common wads were not the best for self defense at distance due to too much spread in the pattern.
Lots of genuinely good information in the well done presentation.
