Places to shoot steel-cased/bimetal ammo around TC metro?

Postby blkcat on Mon Feb 20, 2023 9:18 am

I admit I'm not very familiar with all of the outdoor clubs in the area but it seems like most of them are members-only with long waiting lists. Any suggestions would be appreciated - indoor ranges welcome too.

Try Beaverbrook. It's located in east Bethel.
Speed is Fine, Accuracy is final....but accurate hits at extremely high speed is final much faster.
I don't think you understand, these boys killed my dog!
Taking the gun off safe increases the velocity by 100%

No restrictions on steel-cased ammo at Minnesota Horse & Hunt Club. You need to become a member or go out as a guest of a member to shoot there. Features a Pistol Range, 25, 50, 100 & 200 yard rifle range & a Small-bore 100 yard range.

The only case restrictions I've heard of were at Bill's; admittedly several years since shooting there.
And their restriction was no Aluminum, ostensibly due to the fact that it had to be manually removed (unlike magnetic cases).

I am a member, and it appears membership is currently available at Oakdale Gun Club in Lake Elmo.

I was a member at Beaverbrook. It was a great place, even before they made recent (since I left) improvements.

Most places I am aware of, the main rule with casings is to clean up after yourself.

Oakdale Gun Club does not have a waiting list. Open to new members right now.

I am a member of FRPC, outdoor range.

$100 for new members, less after that.
Or be a guest of a member.

One thing to be a bit more explicit on-

Steel or nonbrass cases are one thing.

Bimetallic (read steel) bullets are another.

I don’t know of anyone who approves of folks shooting at their steel targets with any sort of steel/iron jacketed bullets.

It ruins the target and is also a fire risk from sparks.

Some places may not police it, but if you get caught shooting club steel with steel bullets, expect to be thrown out.
