What would possibly make someone think that was a good idea?
I will never apologize for being an American.

I'm pretty sure this is one of those people for whom the concept of thinking about what one is doing and it's likely consequences has never occurred.

My fear is that not just in the last 4-5 years that people have purchased firearms and the guns have just sat up on the back of their closets or bottom dressers drawers. Boughten, no training whatsoever and now that ego thing it kicking in.

Not really current news though. This video is over 4 years old.

It takes a special kind of stupid to do this though.

The last time I was in Bill's Gun Shop & Range, some clown was playing with a rifle like it was a toy; even presumably unloaded, the lack of muzzle discipline made me flinch. I asked a shop employee to tell gun newbie to knock it off, and the employee had some quiet but apparently very firm words with them.

Working RSO at OGC it is amusing to see reviews that accuse us of being Fudds because we correct shooters and are too vigilant in enforcing the range rules.

I maybe a Fudd but the rules do not change.

is there anyone in the Cities doing advanced training anymore?

there used to be several instructors that had next level and above
training courses, but I haven't seen anyk announcements or ads
of anything along those lines in quite a while.

Seconded. Basic handgun, permit class and training to be a range safety officer are the only things I'm finding out there.

It might be that this is due to the NRA’s current training/ certification procedures, and requirements.
At a recent DNR Firearm Safety class, I heard parts of a discussion between some instructors lamenting the expense, and difficulties of becoming a training counselor.
Briefly, it sounds as thought the organizations’s priorities remain focused on wlp’s wardrobe, as opposed to developing, and supporting advanced instructors and counselors.
Without counselors, there are no instructors.

It would seem to me that supporting a robust network of instructors would allow for more students (and tuition/registration fees), as well as a greater body of trained people.
It sounded as though this strategy is not widely held by the decision makers.

Does https://defensivemindsettraining.com/ count as advanced?
