Binary triggers were prohibited - and the sentence for illegal possession of an automatic firearm, to include auto-sears, was increased from 5 to 20 years.

Thanks much, so I'll chalk this up to bad reporting because neither of those things affect who can own a machine gun. Sigh. Modern reporting is generally really bad.

Kind of a bummer about binary triggers, but as I live in WI, and I don't actually own any at this time, meh. More MN ********. "The state where nothing is allowed" as said by Garage Lagic.

No, it applies to firearms.

We don't plan to challenge this as we have other litigation we're working on to challenge some other things that would be easier to win. But if you have a spare $125k laying about, we'd be happy to bring a suit on binary triggers

The binary trigger prohibition has been in place for quite some time.

Here's the change to the specific machine gun definition/prohibition.

(2) a device that allows a semiautomatic firearm to shoot more than one shot with a single pull of the trigger or by harnessing the recoil of energy of the semiautomatic firearm to which it is affixed so that the trigger resets and continues firing without additional physical manipulation of the trigger.

This covers bump stocks and similar items.
