20/20 Special Anchored by Diane Sawyer - Friday: If I Only Had a Gun

Here is a quote from a news video that is playing on the site:
====================================================
"We have 32 people being murdered by guns every day in this country," said Michael Wolkowitz, a board member of the Brady Center, which lobbies for tighter gun restrictions. "If peanut butter or pistachio nuts or spinach killed that number of people once in one day, they'd be pulled by the [Food and Drug Administration]."
====================================================
EE note: Unfortunately people kill people. Sometimes a knife is used. Sometime a gun is used. I served as Jury Foreman on a Murder 1 case. In that case the perpetrator used his hands to kill the victim.

So let me guess.... They will have some Brady crusader on, and lob softball questions at them to criminalize all gun owners...... sound about right? This could be the proverbial door that gets kicked open to allow the "assault weapon" ban to be reinstated, if not worse.

On Monday on GMA in the promo for this they sent a guy (whose sister was shot at Virginia Tech) with several thousand dollars to a gun show to buy a gun. He was approached in the parking lot by some guy and bought a glock for four hundred fifty dollars no questions asked. It may not be a very unbiased program.

That guy in the parking lot, his name is "Loophole", and he's everywhere! :roll: If anything this should show the public how easy it is to get a gun. This guy sold it in the parking lot. So, how is making strict laws for gunshow's going to curb this kind of "criminal" behavior? Oh, I forgot, the sheeple will believe what ever they're told, if they see it on TV! :roll: :roll: :roll:

32 x 365 = 11680.

By CDC figures, all firearm homicides = 12682 for 2005.

(http://webapp.cdc.gov/sasweb/ncipc/mortrate10_sy.html)

So, mathematically, he's not too far off. If he said "are victims of homicide" rather than "murdered", and "using a gun", rather than "by a gun", I'd even be in agreement with him. (not all homicides are murders)

But then he'd be a poor propagandist.

The aim here isn't JUST to shut down the gun shows. The purpose is to show how the proliferation of guns in society is evil. The subliminal message is that guns are available all over the place and should be eliminated and outlawed.

The Incremental approach is typical for any propaganda campaign. You will see many more of these type of expose's. The Anti's will saturate the news with anything they can find and if there aren't enough new cases, they'll put on specials on the anniversary of when some kid got shot by a drive by or killed his little brother with a gun that DAD left laying around loaded. It is effective and they know it. There is no way to counter act it. You are right, the average citizen doesn't have time to research or think too much about it. The "guardians" of the comuity are telling them that its bad, so they go along because they are busy working, paying bills, feeding their families etc.

The good news is, the Huffigton Post Poll that asked, "Gun laws will be toughened after how many more shooting incidents?"

It was voted overwhelmingly, NEVER..........................Even CA, IA, and IL.
