Recommend A Range

Postby TC95GT on Thu May 28, 2009 4:07 pm

I need some recommendations for an outdoor range that is currently accepting members. I am on a couple of lists, but it may take a while before they open up.

Must have a rifle range I can practice prone, sitting and standing. My recent attendance at the Appleseed shoot has exposed another glaring weakness in my shooting fu. A 50 to 100 yd range would be plenty of distance at this point.

A decent pistol range to practice IDPA/Steel stuff would be another requirement.

So far I am looking at Beaverbrook, Isanti and another one located south about an hour that I can’t remember the name of at the moment. I live in the St. Paul area.

Any suggestions and contact info greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I think non members can use Oakdale at certain times. Some here are members and I'm sure will chime in.

I belong to Beaverbrook and have been very happy with the ranges and facilities.

I am an active member at Isanti County Sportsmans Club. Dues this year are 70$ and there is a 30$ deposit if you want a fob to get throught the gate durring non league times. There is a 138 yard rifle range, 50 yard pistol two trap houses and a really good archery range. I would be happy to meet and give you the nickle tour. We do not have steel on the pistol range, YET ;) but I am working on it. Tom

service, but whom may never have been Members of the American Legion are eligible.
* Note: If your “Eligible Veteran” (e.g. your father) is living but is not an enrolled member of The American

This eligibility includes step-relatives

Take a look at Delano Sportsman's Club...

http://www.delanosportsmensclub.com/

I'm a member there and they have a pretty nice, albeit smaller, setup. They have distances up to 100 yards with covered shooting areas. They are accepting members as far as I know as well.

You could always look into the Isanti County Sportsman's Club. Located about an hour north of you, but worth the drive. Rifle to 140 yds, well kempt pistol with slabs at 25 yds and 7 yds, two trap houses and a 3D archery range. $70 per year and if you want a key fob for the security gate it is a $30 refundable deposit. Come to the Pin Shoot on July 5th for a tour.
If you're reading this, there are better than even odds you are a d-bag.

I personally think 600 yards is a good range. Not too close, not too far that the small stuff goes sub-sonic before hitting the target.

:P
