Valley Fair looked about the same as last year

Postby Tutmos on Sun Jul 05, 2009 2:33 pm

We left after the fireworks so who knows if it got worse after 10:30 but it looked like the same unrepresentative crowd as last year. The KMOJ crowd was probably 1/4 to 1/3 of total guests and they were just as ignorant and poorly behaved as last year. I had a group of two hoodlum baggy pants idiots and their little skank girls jump a fence and think they were going to squeeze in front of us in line that I had to tell to essentially F off. It didn't seem that Valley Fair made any effort at additional security over last year except more people at the entrance. The police were on their way inside the park as we were walking out through the throngs of thugs that seem to love crowding at the entrance area.

Overall I'd say Valley Fair on the 4th of July IS NOT a family friendly place.

Places where fireworks are, is a bad place to be. Sounds dangerous. Like going to a bank.

Might I suggest that telling people to "essentially F off" while caring a gun is not the preferred method of interaction with others. It could make us look bad.

27 uniformed in-park security officers, plus supervisors, plus plainclothes loss-prevention officers, plus 3 extra dispatchers, plus 4 plainclothes Shakopee PD officers, plus plainclothes people from other departments with security radios, plus about 20 maintenance workers with radios. Three weeks of planning, diagramming and extra preparation.

Total upshot: a few fence-jumpers, and one yelling incident that didn't even turn into a fight.

But aside from that, you're right......no effort at all.

It's always the racist that throw out the race card whenever there's not any racism involved.
