Are you selling a WinXP license with it or just put WinXP on for the hell of it?

ETA: Dear thread-locking fetishists: This is probably illegal, unless he is going to peel the XP license sticker off the bottom of his dell, in which case it is probably still illegal.

Sorry guys, Not trying to make anyone look bad. My friend cleaned everything off of it and put on Windows XP. I am not computer savvy at all, but I believe he just used my Windows liscense. The hard drive was on my computer and I just got a bigger one.

If its a big no no to be doing this I will take it off of here.

Its not a big deal, it wouldn't likely boot into windows in a non-dell computer anyway.

You're not actually doing anything wrong (other than not adding a price, but you quickly fixed that) It is up to the end user to manage he use of the hard drive, and the software they install on it. If they don't have a license for XP, then they should be using it.

That being said, if I were you, I would wipe the drive clean (format it) before giving it up.

Yeah stupid me forgot to add the price. It was formatted and wiped clean and my buddy just put on XP, but I see what you are saying now.

FYI - you don't need a laptop to use this. For something like $10, Microcenter sells a little case you can put this into that has a USB cable on it which can be plugged into a desktop machine.

This would make a nice dedicated back-up drive.

A used laptop drive for backup? Seems like a really bad idea. Drives are cheap and have a finite life, your data is valuable, some priceless.

No remaining warranty on it, otherwise I would have just got a new one from Dell :P PM me what you have to trade, not sure what I need haha.
