More details. If you're considering, please let me know. I will be able to assemble as many as needed.
The concept behind the bucket is to provide an inclusive food source, preassembled. Having a two week supply ready is more logical for people who do not want to keep large stores of individual items. I've come up with a mix of 5 dry foods that compliment each other in creating a balanced diet, with a couple extra supplements. I choose dry foods instead of pre-packaged food because dry foods have an indefinite life span if stored correctly. In fact, some of the grain found in egyptian pyramids is still edible due to the dry and cool climate. I choose a combination of Black Beans, Rice, Lentils, Oats and Couscous. Each of these will be checked for moisture content, treated organically for bugs, and packaged in mylar bags with oxygen eaters to seal them. Stored like this they'll last 20 years at least. They'll be in 5gal food grade buckets to keep out light, further moisture and protection against trauma and rodents. Supplementary foods will include some honey, spices (iodized salt included), coffee and some hard candy. Also, some multivitamins and vitamin c will finish off the balance.
I've decided to not include oil as that is the only thing that needs to be rotated out every year or so. Rancid oil causes heart-disease and cancer, so i'll leave that up to the buyer!
The breakdown per day is: 2,500calories, 433g carbs, 77g protein, 50g fats. This is more than a 2,000 calorie/day diet because i figure if we actually need to use this food, we will be working a lot harder than normal.
I also can put together longer term packages for you if you tell me your ideas/needs.
