Renting out a room in my House

Postby Inspiribomb on Thu May 12, 2011 7:46 am

I've come to realize that a 4 bedroom house for a single guy is a bit overkill, and could use some extra income to put towards projects around the house, so I've decided to rent out a room. I haven't worked out all the details yet, but wanted to put this out to gauge interest, at least before I list it on Craigslist.

So what I am offering is a single bedroom in the basement of my house in Lindstrom, MN. The bedroom is nicely finished with dimmer track-lighting, a closet, and built-in shelves. I will measure the bedroom soon. The rest of the basement is unfinished. There is a walk-out slider right off the bedroom. Walking up the steps leads to what could/would be a living area, with a bathroom/shower and laundry (this room is off the garage). The kitchen is also off this room (opposite side that the garage is on).

The house sits on 5 beautiful acres, with lots of trees, but not wooded. An abundance of lakes nearby, with one within walking distance. There is a large firepit and a garden. A garage stall will be included, and I have a separate small garage/large shed that could be used to store a car if desired. Wireless internet included.

I'm thinking around $500/month, everything included. So you write one check and you're done. Let me know if you have questions or comments.

Thanks!

I thought with as quick as you found someone(so it sounded) way out in BFE, I'd find someone just on the edge of BFE easily ;)

I decided to throw up an ad on CL, got about 4 hits in 2 hours then nothing. One that looks promising. If no-one hears back from me after this weekend, come looking for me please. :D

Good luck.

Well, the current roommate is likely taking a job up in Duluth, so I am offering up the basement to rent again, as well as one of the upstairs bedrooms (will also have own bathroom). PM for more details.

1 room gone, still have the upstairs available for rent. You get 2 bedrooms (one for BR, one for LR/office/whatever) and your own bathroom.

Hmm... for $500 I might consider this for a snowbird rental! Would you accept a roommate that is gone 9 months a year? Does it come with free webernets?

Sorry, no webernets, but I do have free wireless interwebs.

Send me a PM or email with what you had in mind and we can discuss further.

I'm a long way away from making this decision. A few months at least. But I'll keep this thread in mind!

When can my wife and I and Murphy our Basset Hound move in - of coures we would need parking space for my 40' FW, 20' + 10' + 8' enclosed trailers, 2 vehicles, the whole basement for my reloading room and extra storage for my wife's clothes & shoes (all my clothes fit in a suitcase)???

My wife loves to bake (not so good at house-keeping), and you will not go hungry.

My only extra need is a heated rifle range.

We can move in by Christmas - just say the word - $500.00 correct ????

We would be willing to pay $750/month if all our needs are met. Maybe more ?????????????????
