Zanotti Gun Safe

Postby bullets on Sat Oct 24, 2009 1:06 pm

As a newbe, I only have a shotgun and a .22 but will be getting a .308 rifle next and other guns as budget & wife allow. Currently I only have a Stack On gun safe, but with new guns on the horizon I realize I need additional security for them. I am considering a Zanotti gun safe (http://www.zanottiarmorsafes.com/safes) because it appears I could manage moving it myself when taken apart and I think even with the help of a moving company it would be difficult to get one of those other preassembled massive gun vaults in & out of my small bastement. I noticed the Zanotti safes are neither UL bulgary or Omega Lab fireproof certified. Any opinions on the Zanotti gun safe out there???

I have a 6 foot ZA-II & I really like it.
I spent a long time looking hoping to see one in person with no luck.
Looked at all the other brands, decided moving was very likely.
So took a chance ordered & have been pleasantly surprised at how well it worked out.
I just called them directly & had it shipped to the cities.

There is another company that make safes that come apart I think it is http://www.dakotasafe.com/

I don't own a zonatti but for the money you could buy a better RCS if you didn't need the piecemeal construction. I looked at zanatti's eventually I decided I would just hire someone if I needed to move it.
I ended up going with http://www.diamondbackgunsafes.com/ despite their ghetto website the safes are pretty dam sturdy. But definatly not as shiny or have a super nice finish like zonatti or liberty, but for the dollar they use thicker metal in their construction. (if you compare price points between companies).

Just remember none of these so called "safes" are really safes they are residential security cabinets. Even with 10 gauge steel, a couple of guys with a crash axe and a crowbar can ruin your day. If you want something a little more sturdy than what the other brands offer look at sturdy safe company.
Best of luck,
I'm sure you will be happy if you go the zonatti route. They do make a nice product, just trying to present a couple more options for you.

Last time I called Zanotti they were quoting an 18 month waiting period. Which tells you two things. People like them, and you should be prepared to wait a bit before getting one.

I'll be placing an order about the first of the year, so I'd be one guy you could get ahead of in line!

You do get personal service on the phone too, they are good people to speak with. They'll mail you a current price list very quickly if you ask for one. I'm hoping the turnaround time decreases. He said their backlog followed the Obama election just like the AR shortage and ammo shortage. So we'll hope for change see what works out.

Saw one of these at the Fall Shooter's Show at Bill's. Seemed more space efficient than the traditional box safe. I didn't get any pricing, though I'm not in the market right now. I'm impressed, but that's the extent of my personal experience.

Certainly an novel idea... I looked at their website, and I don't see information about how their safes are constructed, what they are made out of in terms of steel gauge. Anyone have any info on this? Won't due you a whole lot of good if they are easy to get into. Security first, convenience second.

The video clip on their web site stated "quarter inch construction" starting at 0:41 through 0:51.
