My Dad has the smaller of the two. Its is perfect for 2/3 guns, and all your necessary equipment. IMO the bigger of the two is to big for just 1 or 2 guns. The pockets are plentiful, the fabric is strong as is the stitching. The only complaint my old man has (along with most other people) is that the zippers do not have an actual zipper pull on them, but a cord. The cord end are held together by some cheap plastic toggle that breaks. The recomended fix is to make your own pulls with para-cord or use these: http://shop.zippermend.com/main.sc

I am going to buy the smaller of the two, and from seeing my Dad's and messing around with it, it is going to be perfect.

... that's the trouble I had with the bigger bags ... couldn't not fill 'em!

One nice thing 'bout these Midway bags (and other higher end bags) is they come with a "sleeve" for your pistol (so ya can keep your gun "cased" takin' it into the "safe area", w/o otherwise havin' to drag your whole giant bag there).

... and they easily adapt to any new range-bag environment!

I've had a couple nice range bags ... Green Mountain ... Bag Master ... and a cheapo Uncle Mike's, that IMO was as good as any of the others! :hide:

My buddy's got one of these Midway bags ... not entirely sure if it's the smaller one ... I think it is?! ... it's nice!

Anyhow, I've been using "tool" bags for several years, now! There's usually a purdy good selection at Lowes 'er such ... they're usually not too pricey ($20 - $30) ... no shipping (I've bought the Midway rifle cases, and man they really sock it to ya!

) ... and there's usually tons of little pockets 'n pouches ... usually on the inside, around the sides ... perfect for mags!

Probly the best thing I like about the "tool" bags is they open nice 'n big ... all the way ... with only one hand ... all my other "range" bags had a double-zipper thingy ... ya pull one deallie, and it opens/closes two zippers, at once ... 'bout 4 - 6in apart ... opening up the middle, for access into the main compartment. YMMV, but I've had somewhat limited success, with such things!

I have the smaller one. In addition to the main compartment, it has two side pockets and two end pockets. The end pockets are good for holding smaller stuff like empty ziplock bags for your range brass, earplugs, or staples for your staple gun. One side pocket has magazine loops (six or seven iirc), and they're the pockets are each large enough that you could easily put an uncased full-size handgun in them. I've carried as much as 1000 rounds of 9mm in the main compartment, and still had room for my muffs, mag loader, cleaning kit (Otis), shooting glasses, and a gun rug with my Sig P228.

It's a great bag, and am seriously considering buying a second one to carry my shotgun ammunition for trap/skeet/hunting.

I got my smaller bag in the mail on Friday:

Just a couple of pics. The gun rug was 7 bucks on sale, and the bag itself was 30 on sale. It is really a nice bag. Lots of storage, well thought out and totally worth the price.

If you are looking for a bag, I highly recommend this one, for the price you cant beat it.

Thanks for the review! Thing looks like quite the tank. How's the padding on the shoulder strap? If you have to do a bit of a woods walk to get to your primary range, are you going to be sore before you even start shooting, or does it balance the load pretty well?

The strap is something I have a slight issue with. On the strap, the shoulder padding is stitched in place. Where it is, is where it is. The padding is contoured and comfortable, but you need to adjust either side of the strap to get the bag to lay/rest correctly for how you were it. Once it is dialed in, it isn't really a big deal, but it take a little mucking with to get it right.

A couple of weekends ago I had a m&p9, a sr9, an LC9, 6 full size mags, 2 LC9 mags, 400 rounds of 9, a box of 20 .410 shot shells, 10 .410 slug shells, 20 .30-30 rounds and about 300 .22lr. Along with two sets of ear muffs, two sets of safety glasses, some basic tools, and targets and the bag didn't show any signs of being over stressed. No pulling or making any noise from the strap. And it was comfortable to boot. And that was all in the smaller of the two bags.

I really dont think you would run into any issues if you needed to lug it to a range through some woods, on that recommendation, I would also suggest getting the smaller of the two. The big bag is pretty darn big and hauling that through trees might not be so much fun.
