Benelli M2 Combat

Postby Pinnacle on Wed Oct 28, 2009 6:02 pm

I took my newly acquired Benelli M2 to the range this afternoon -

CYL Bore Choke tube inserted into the 18" bbl - Remington 1oz managed recoil slugs and ghost ring sights -

Lets just say 3" 5 shot group at 100 yards ought to do it. Best shooting shotgun EVER.

I'll probably make my move when they get a slug barrel for that Vinci.

Nice! The M2 is a meat gun. If it's brown, it's down!

Haven't seen that one. Is it new? Are you sure it's not an M2 Tactical?

It is an M2 Tactical as a matter of fact. The M2 Comes in like 5 flavors and this is the Tactical Variant with the Ghost Ring Sights which are basically the selling point of the whole gun to me. They just work perfectly - great sight picture and real fast as well.

I was SHOCKED that this gun with the CYL Bore Choke installed would shoot that well with open sights. Nothing like HEARING the slug hit the paper at 100.

Very nice looking firearm on paper. Nice to hear they work so well. I guess if they're good enough for the Marines then that tells me enough.

Which model did you opt for? Pistol grip or without?

From Benelli's website:
M2 TACTICAL 12-GAUGE 2-3/4" AND 3"
11052 18.5" Pistol Grip Ghost Ring 39.75" 6.7 lbs.
11053 18.5" Synthetic Ghost Ring 39.75" 6.7 lbs.
11054 18.5" Pistol Grip Open Rifle 39.75" 6.7 lbs.
11055 18.5" Synthetic Open Rifle 39.75" 6.7 lbs.
11027 18.5" ComforTech™ Open Rifle 39.75" 6.7 lbs.
11029 18.5" ComforTech™ Ghost Ring 39.75" 6.7 lbs.

I'm going to guess it's one of these 2:
11053 18.5" Synthetic Ghost Ring 39.75" 6.7 lbs.
11029 18.5" ComforTech™ Ghost Ring 39.75" 6.7 lbs.

So...

Paul Harvey is/was to be compared with the Marines in recommending a good shotgun. I learned something new today.

No confrotech - Pistol Grip Ghost Rings - kicks a touch but not as bad as a pump gun

comfortech seems like a $100 option that may not be worth it.

As long as its a decent auto action, it should take out the recoil pretty well compared to a pump.

not sure why I care, right now a defense only shotgun is out of the budget unless its something of the used 870/500 variety.

I have a M2 in the 21" with the Comfort Stock and during the last 3-gun match in the Ozarks had to shoot somewhere around 60 rds a day, with no discomfort at all. Some of the stages had 30 rds loading and shooting as fast as you can.
