Wild West trigger and "Bear Proof" ejector

Postby goalie on Mon Dec 07, 2009 7:55 pm

So, I really like the handling of the "trapper" 30-30 I picked up this year. I had heard about the Wild West trigger that you can install yourself, and, when they went on sale, decided to try it out. I also picked up the one-piece ejector, not because I needed it, but because it was the only part I had ever had fail on my other Marlin 336.

Here's a link to the parts:

Pretty much my review is this: if you hate the Marlin trigger-flop, and want a good, consistent, lighter, hunting appropriate trigger, buy one now.

It didn't come with installation instructions, but they are easy to find on the web. It took about 20 minutes, and there is no comparison at all between my "trapper" 336 and my "regular" 336 with the stock trigger still in it.
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.

I was a C-hair away from ordering one of these off Davidson's this afternoon. I had to restrian myself. After the Holidays I will most likely fall victim... You can hook me up with all the fixes. Sweet.

Buy one. It is stainless and laminate, great for actually hunting with. It comes with very decent fiber optic "iron" sights, and the short length makes it a dream to carry in the woods.
