So I was ordering other crap from brownells, and totally got upsold to make us of shipping on these Jags.

They were kinda expensive, but I liked the theory.

I tried the .45 one after a match. It was impressive how much stuff these things drag out, since they deform into the lands. You still have to brush when it gets heavy, but compared to my regular jags it took fewer passes to get a sparkling clean bore.

They say on the package that you can stick 0000 steel wool or brass wool on the jags to help get out stuck fouling, i've never heard of this, but it might be worth a try. That level of wool would be fine on a bore.

One thing, they are a bear to push down the pipe. I was using cotton patches (thicker t-shirt feeling ones I cut from shotgun) and they were hard. You would probably want to use the die cut ones that are thin and silky looking.

Thanks for the write-up! Might have to throw one of these in with a spring kit I'm eyeing...

Any chance you have a Brownells Lewis Lead Remover and could compare it's performance with this product?

I shoot fmj or plated exclusively, so I am usually only wrangling with copper fouling and carbon.

The louis lead with the brass patches looks like it will work for heavy leaded barrels, though I've never used it. The o ring jag makes a nice seal when running patches, but I imagine that you would still have to run a brush with solvent to cut through heavy lead.
