So a while ago a broke my tip on my Buck Knife (http://www.buckknives.com/index.cfm?event=product.detail&productid=3044) so I sent it in for warranty service with a note saying that while using it the tip broke. Six weeks later I recieve in the mail a brand new knife. Yes it did take a while to get the replacemet but I was kind of surprised that they actually honored their warranty. And on top of that they gave me a coupon for 25% off an order from their online store. So who here's been looking at purchasing a Buck Knife and wants to save 25% as I have enough knives already.
YEP, they replaced one for me also, theyr blades are brittle as glass, I have broken too many of them, just one of the reasons I haven't bought one in many years.
Hmmm ... I have a few of the Buck 297 "Sirus" ... never broke one blade ... and they're my EDC ... then again, I only use mine for cutting?!

I wouldn't say the blades are brittle as glass. I had it for several years before the tip broke, what are you doing to your knives that you've broke so many?

The first one I broke was that short flat bladed #103 skinner, I was dressing a huge ten point buck and to cut the pelvic bone I picked up a heavy stick a nd gave the knife a a wack on the back of the blade and must have hit it at an angle and broke the blade off at the handle. When you look at the break you can see it is very fine grained and brittle steel. that blade is nearly 1/4" thick. I have seen others break them by sticking them in wood and not quite pulling them out straight. The next one I broke was a big 2 blade folder, I was telling the guys in the shop how brittle they are and I gave the back edge of the blade a rap on the edge of the welding table and it snapped right off. Other than that I don't like the smooth slick handles on the hunting knives they get slippery with blood and are too round and give no index of difflexion.
