Hickock45 has some reviews on YouTube for both of those pistols.

It's likely a good choice.

When comparing to other single stack, small frame 9mm's and .40's, it's like, asking: "Chevy, Ford, or Dodge?"

The Shield trigger is better than standard M&P's.

Don't forget to include a Kahr P9 in your choice for this size handgun.

M&P9 shield

Now to be fair, I just bought the .40 and not the nine, but I flipping LOVE this thing. Accurate as hell and whether IWB, SOB, or front left pocket, it is always compact and light enough to never not be with me.

Quite honestly not much different than my .40 Sig229

I used to be able to fire a pretty effective double tap with my 9mm....still need to work with both the Sig and the Shield, but I really like shooting .40 cal.

The Shield is single stack, so it's thinner, and holds less rounds than the sr9c. (shield holds 7 or 8 dependig on mag)

Others similar to the sr9c to compare to would be a Smith Wesson m&p 9c, or a glock 26

I have an SR9c, I'm pretty happy with it. I like that i can hold 18 rounds if i want to. Don't get me wrong I like M&Ps. Very nice guns as well. The sr9c has proved to be really reliable. Only two malfunctions and one was after about 600 plus round of not cleaning it, and the other time the ammo was jamming in my buddys sig x5 as well. I figure I have put at least 2000 rounds through it. In my opinion my gun has a pretty nice trigger on it. Single stacks are nice, but I don't think a double stack gun IWB is that uncomfortable... That's why i was torn between the GLock 26 and the sr9c, but in the end i wanted a manual safety. I don't think you will be disappointed with either. I can think of 5 different compacts that I think i would be happy with.

The fit and finish and ergonomics on the Shield are much better than the PF-9. The price reflects this ;-)

I bought a shield and sold my PF-9 and have been very happy. My Dad loved his Shield until he met Arne Boberg at a range and shot several of the Bobereg shorties in 9mm... Now his Shield is for sale and he's on the list for a Boberg Onyx.

M&P9 shield

Postby Erik_Pakieser on Thu Oct 18, 2012 10:56 am

I did a write up on the Shield when it first came out. I just picked one up from SW Arms and couldn't be happier.

http://qsifirearms.blogspot.com/2012/04 ... nsive.html

Some notes:

Holsters for the PPQ seem to fit the Shield, although some manufacturers are now making holsters for it.

Most Apex Tactical parts will work in the Shield, for example the Duty/Carry Kit. The Reset Action Module (RAM) will not fit.

The manual safety and magazine safety can be removed without affecting the guy's function.
