I took part in a Cabala’s focus group.

Last night, I took part in a Cabala’s focus group.
They fed and paid us. The research group was led by a moderator who was Canadian born transplanted to LA. He kept asking if we would continue to shop there if they stopped carrying ‘High capacity clips “ and “ assault rifles” after about the 3rd time I piped in and said …I believe you are referring to “ standard capacity magazines for AR or AK looking rifles. You have been saying clips and that would be a “stripper clip” used on m1 garands, German Mausers, Springfield ’03, and various other military bolt actions and some magazine loaders. Last checked Cabala’s does not actually carry loading clips or military assault rifles. They have sporting semi-auto rifles w/ black synthetic adjustable stocks that look like military.

The look on this guy’s face was priceless. He was totally speechless. The back wall was a one way mirror so Cablea’s executives could watch …… this guy was turning red and looking back at the mirror…. The rest of the goup was like ….yeah that’s rights….. the lone Solider in the group was consulted and he said … yes a standard capacity magazine is 30 rounds and it’s a low capacity magazine that holds 10. The lone gal piped in saying the adjustable stock allowed she and her boyfriend to shoot the same rifle.
Later, as he kept asking about if we thought Cabala’s supported us …. I said I never saw anybody from Cabelas in St Paul last year….. I saw Stuart Mills from Fleet Farm. I never heard a single word from Gander Mountain or Cabela’s last year. GM gouged us on guns and ammo and Cabelas keep their prices lower. But with their presence here I would expect Cabala’s to be more visible politically.
Overall it was a good night, I actually enjoyed meeting the others and discussing hunting and shooting.

It sounds like they're under pressure from the antis to cave. It sounds like you handled it well.

Thank you for speaking up. I used to run focus groups for an ad agency here and trust me - they record, note, and discuss EVERYTHING that is said by the participants. I'm guessing behind that mirror someone circled your name, wrote down the time stamp, and will likely list this as a counterpoint to their objective.

Thank you from a Cabela's STOCKHOLDER!

I support your comments and thank you for taking your time to provide them.

(The only part I would disagree with is that an "M1" uses an "en bloc" clip and not a "stripper" clip.)

Good for you!

As for Cabelas, well at least they are asking their customers and not just caving in and doing it. Hopefully they don't cave.

yes I stand corrected ..... in my rush to correct the Liberal media's characterization of " high capacity" and "clips" my statement was too generalized..... good catch....

Like I said it was actually fun, Cabela's seems to want to improve the store and experience....... I suggested they get rid of the fishing stuff and then they would have more room for guns and ammo and tactical equipment..... lol.... I also suggested they create a mini- theater and run the old 1950s and 1960s et.al hunting and fishing movies.... some of those how to s like they showed for decades at the county and state fairs.............

Well done. Have you considered a well crafted letter to the store manager and work your way up the chain?

I for one wouldn't continue to shop there if they stopped selling them. What was the over all consensus in the room about the topic?

Anyone who uses the term "assault rifle" to proves their level of intelligence.
