Barrel shorten and recrown

Postby BrianJones on Thu Mar 26, 2015 8:44 am

Can anyone recommend someone local who can chop and re crown my rem700 barrel? I'd prefer not to have to send it out. A wait is fine.

While I've never met, or used his services, this guy is popular among competitive shooters:

Competition Gunsmith/ Machinist; highly regarded.

Did you use him? I am looking at getting a Ruger Charger barrel threaded.
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.

I haven't had Jim build me a competition gun, but he has made me a couple hunting guns and is the man I trust to work on my dangerous game rifles.

I don't know if he works on rimfire stuff much, but he is a member of the American Custom Gunsmiths Guild.

He works reasonable rates and good turn around time.

I have no doubt he can do a shorten and rechamber of a Remington no problem.
