Recommendation on a good NFA engraver?

Postby Collector1337420 on Fri Oct 09, 2015 11:08 am

I finally got my Form 1 back and need to get my SBR engraved.

Can anyone recommend a good gunsmith for a NFA engraving?

Thanks.

I have always used Ident Marking in Texas. Orion does a good job I'm told, but they were more expensive, shipping was more expensive (even if you live in Minnesota), and their shipping requirements (UPS only) made the process too cumbersome to consider them for my desires. Ident does great job, communicates well. No muss, no fuss.

I have used Orion a few times and they were excellent to deal with.

Approximate cost?

Can they do the trigger area?

Is disassembly required?

I just broke my AR down to just the lower, still had trigger etc in there

my scorpion I broke down to just the "lower" receiver and took the bolt out

$70 for both and had it done the next day, more you do the cheaper it is

I took a picture and marked where I wanted things and he matched the text on each of the receivers

Here are a couple pics with some of the engraving blocked out to give you an idea

*edit, I forgot to mention that he did get his FFL and is approved by the ATF

I use Orion but they are a pain. Striped, shipped only, costly. Ran into a booth at the MWCA show where you can drop off in new brighton. Industrial engraving. Sounded cheaper too. Will try them next time.

Industrial is the one we were just discussing above.

I wanted to use Orion but didn't since they require shipping.

I've always used Tar Heel State Firearms, good price and great work.
