Supposedly it's 9mm... no idea what sort of gun it was though. It's not a Glock. Wish the police / media would just say exactly what sort of weapon was used.

I read or heard somewhere that it was a S&W. Looks like a 469.

If you check out the conversation at about the 5:00 mark, the guy complains that they didn't raise taxes. Ohhhh, if they had only raised taxes, this would never have happened!

On the other hand, maybe the fact that he was a bipolar ex-con enters into the equation... :P

Maybe it's just me, but the amount of irresponsible reporting by the media on reporting gun crimes appears to be decreasing. Not every story begins with a guns are bad slant anymore, but instead seem to recognize the difference between responsible and illegal gun use.

I think we won. Doesn't mean we can sit back on our laurels and crack open a beer in celebration. Well... we can do the last part of that, but not the first. :D

I think in part it's because most politicians won't go near gun control anymore.
However there is this ABC hatchet job; a thorough set up to make the armed student look inept.

As to the timeliness of this piece- I can't say. I just came across it on the XD forum.

The superintendent has balls of steel for holding it together that long.

Is it common to have security guards armed with firearms at school board meetings? Apparently I've been living with my head in the sand.

That video was ridiculous. What's the likelihood that an armed intruder is going to walk into a lecture hall and just start blasting the permit holder immediately? How would the intruder know immediately whether anyone had a gun? Crazed gunmen are just like unaware permit holders, too. It's not like it's automatic that all the shots from the intruder are going to score. He's going to be under a lot of stress as well, and will miss with a lot of his shots, like in the Florida example above. There was good information there, but in the end all that video proved was that the media has an agenda.

The guy was nuts. From my interactions with mentally ill people at work, it would not surprise me if he did not really want to shoot anyone but himself.

We'll never know.

Yep. The 'oh ****' factor would likely overwhelm me. But as to being realistic: Everyone involved, other than the permit holder, was a professional in on it to dupe him. They proved a police firearms instructor could storm a room brandishing, with everyone but one person expecting him, and shoot the one surprised person, who had a holstered gun. Further, I got to thinking about: If I correctly understood the premise of the experiment- the student with the gun thought it was a loaded(with real ammo) weapon- What if...The permit holder, who was given the pistol believing it was loaded with live ammo, discovered the simulated ammo and switched it to live ammo.... I know if someone gave me a gun to carry, I'd be curious enough to check the ammo.

Wouldn't it have sucked for ABC and cohorts if person playing a moron completely decimated the attacker! Oh, I also wear super long t-shirts and gloves along with a facemask when I carry on my hip... that way I can be sure to get all tangled up if I dare try and react. Might as well just give me a machine gun, and put me in a straitjacket.

Ps: The Glocks they use only take sim ammo, so you wouldn't have a way to switch to real ammo.

Thanks for explaining the ammo. That would also explain all the 2-tone/blue-tone guns, which now that I think about it, even the BG had.
If I recall, they said the picked 6 volunteers for the experiment. I think they showed 3 or 4 reactions. If someone had put 5 blotches under the bad guy's left nipple, we'd never know it. They might as well have had a GM pick-up truck gas tank attending that lecture.

The gunman's wife said he was an excellent shot with a gun, so, he must not have actually wanted to hurt anyone.

It's a shame he ended up dying over this if indeed it's true, but, he escallated the thing I guess! ;)
