The last entry of that bulletin is pathetic. Woman helps a 20-something male push his stuck car loose, in return he steals $100 from her and hits her in the mouth when she asks for her money back. Sheesh, I hope there's something to the idea of karmic balance in the universe.

I have been reading these reports from the north side here for a long time. I grew up in that area in that area in the fifties and read these with a mouse watching the snake sort of amazement. The deterioration that has been allowed is incredible.

reading stuff like this is a useful reminder to be vigilant and know the areas we are going to be traveling through, that is, use detours.

I've lived on the north side most of my life; since 1972 when I was in 3rd grade. I used to walk to school back then, 8 blocks up Lowry Avenue to Bremer school, perfectly safely. I wouldn't choose to walk that route while armed these days.

I am very Dissapointed in these reports. There are also maps available with crimes marked, many in this area, but they don't make the text. Last week we had 2 pages total, one was data the other was filler. Seems somebody is not telling the whole story, or being lazy. Earlier this year, they used to report "guns recovered" (or Simply taken off the streets), but then the 3rd precinct handeled a bust in the 4th, and counted the guns in their total, so they stopped reporting "Guns recovered". This week the report is pretty lite too.

The weather could be responsible for the light reports. To me the last event on this week's statement smells of guys getting robbed while trying to score some dope. They "Pool their money because they're friends." Indeed.

They staged for this raid in the parking lot of Olson School where I work. An ambulance, an SOD (SWAT) van, and several marked and unmarked squads were gathered. The ladies in the office became quite worried and asked me to see why they were there. When I asked one of the officers he told me with a smirk that they were just getting breakfast. I told the ladies that they were probably raiding some place in the neighborhood and it didn't have anything to do with us. Curious that they charge with "carry a weapon without a permit" in a private home. Felon in possession seems more fitting.
