I see hopelessness every day at work. Sometimes the sarcasm doesn't cut through.

My point is that there are cultural leaders who profit big time by keeping people oppressed.

I don't disagree.

I saw a flyer/application form for this organization and their seminar/class in my workplace about 3-4 years ago. I think it was held at a private college in the Twin Cities area, but in the case it was aimed at Human Resource personnel. I don't know why it was posted, because no one cared to attend from our workplace, and there was only one HR person at our site at the time (now, it appears that there are either none, or about 15% of previous numbers of HR personnel in the corporation's sites).

The most ironic part about this?

When I graduated from Lakeville high school 8 years ago, there were around 3 black students, I hear in the years since that number has expanded to 5.

WOW!!! almost doubled in the Lakeville school. Newsworthy for sure! and you wonder why the teachers are going to the conference.

Teachers have all summer off to attend conferences for their CEUs so it makes no sense to me why things like this (including MEA) are held during the school year. Taking the regular, consistent teachers out of the class room & paying subsitute teachers is not conducive to optimal student learning.
