From what the CBO is telling us the end of other people's money is in sight. In the relatively near future our nation's spending will be at an estimated 190% of GDP. That is unsustainable, and will probably be unsustainable long before that.

I still do not see heath-care and welfare enumerated in the Bill of Rights. I may be blind, but I fail to see it.

It seems that whenever the discussion of reducing entitlements is brought up some appallingly afflicted child is dragged out on stage and the "guilt trip" is revved up to maximum rpm. I believed that many people are becoming immune to that now.

I envision a lot of "Wisconsin" unrest (as the country retreats from being a free-spender) by those on the dole.

I think Greece is a great example of where overspending can take you.

If one were to find a cash only practice (they do exist), one can get medical care that just about anyone can afford.

If you want to relieve the burdens of poor people with sick children, and maintain our country as an innovator in the medical field, what one needs to do is to pass tort reform, eliminate minimum coverage laws, and force insurance companies to compete on the national market.

Once these actions are taken, hospitals won't feel compelled to bill exorbitantly for basic care, knowing that most of their customers will generally either never pay (as in the emergency room only poor), or dismiss large portions of the bill, whether fairly billed or not (as in anyone with insurance).

You as an individual can also donate to medical charities.

Well, whenever the government "intervenes" it simply agrees to pay whatever monopoly price the medical industry wants to charge. There are about 10 lobbyists for every Congressman. The answer is to limit the prices paid, either by competition and rational patent rights or the way most of us don't want. But it will have to be done, somehow,or our country will disappear.
