After city prosecutors finished their case Wednesday afternoon, Municipal Court Judge Stephen Belden granted the defense motion to dismiss the most serious charge against William Bartlett of Brewster, arguing there was not enough evidence to continue the trial.

With that charge out of the way, Bartlett pleaded no contest to a traffic violation and was fined $150.

Bartlett has a concealed-carry license but was charged with not promptly telling police of that fact or alerting that he had a gun. He maintains that he tried to inform police but was cut off by Harless.

He had to spend time and money to defend himself from bogus charges, but he still was guaranteed his day in court. God bless the U.S. of A.

Need a modifier for crimes committed from positions of power. Similar to hate crimes but it would be less stupid since it wouldn't require determining motives.
