I solved that problem by always keeping one on me, that way whatever room I'm in has a gun.

This.....Plus the shotgun under the bed, the loaded AR I keep handy in my gun room and the spare 1911 I keep in my bathroom, that I can reach without getting out of the shower ;)

Got a little one on the way though, so my security set up around the house is going to need some adjustment in the somewhat near future.

Congrats on the little one on the way. They were one of the big reasons I went to carrying all the time instead of trying to figure out where to stash guns. "What if.." had me thinking about having one in each room, hallway, entryway, bathrooms ...
How 'bout just leaving it in the holster on your hip?
Having said that, there may or may not also be a shotty on each level secured but accessible...

I kinda panick when the grandkids come over wondering if I picked everything up and secured it.

My EDC is usaually always with me but at times it is nice to unholster and relax in the recliner with it sitting on the end table next to me but still within easy reach.

Actually I already do carry all the time....that's what I meant in my post, XDm .40 Compact in my hip at all times except when I'm in the shower or in bed (then it's on the nightstand). The other's are there in case all else fails. 99% of the time if it isn't on you, you won't get to it in time in the event of a home invasion, no matter how many guns you have stashed around the house.

Guy I know right here in our little village, learned this first hand the hard way a few years ago. Middle of the day on a weekend, three armed thugs walked right through the unlocked front door with the intent on grabbing his gun collection. Turned out his daughter, trying to impress her gangsta freinds by bragging about daddy's gun collection was the root of it all. He didn't have time to do a thing. Lucky for him they just tied him up and left wth a portion of his collection. He was able to get free after they left, called 911 and they where stopped about 20 miles down the road on their way back to the cities. It could have been so much worse, he's lucky he wasn't a white outline on the carpet......He is now a very strong advocate of.....ALWAYS CARRY!!

Who the hell doesn't take their gun into the shower? Must be 1911 guys, because Glocks have no problem getting all cleaned up that way. It's also when you're most vulnerable to a home invasion, and frankly it's just a sign of poor operational readiness to not be armed when you're naked and soapy. It's just asking for trouble.

I have my at "prison-ready" state when I shower.

If you're using what you're hinting at using for a holster, I would recommenced carrying in condition 3. :P

I wanted to follow this up a bit, This happened about 8 years ago and just going off memory I had some of my facts crossed up. 1. I had the time of day wrong....it was about 10PM 2. I never mentioned that his wife came home in the middle of the robbery. Here is a link to more of the story than I'm willing to type. Some scary ****. This all happenned my little home town of 5000 out in the middle of the prairie. But then there always seems to be crazy stuff going on around here. Just scroll down to the last story on this page.

This original post story happened just a few houses down from my sister. I sent her the link and she replied with ...."I hope they catch those bastards and they rot in hell" Now she is very "Left Wing" and I try not to get political with her but the rest of my family and her were talking about all the innocent people on death row and how the death penalty should be abolished...bla, bla, bla. So I replied with, you better just hope they dont move down a couple houses and take your stuff or your life. She just replied with.......**** happens but I don't live in fear for myself.

I dont get some people.........did I ramble too much to understand ?

I learned first hand the other day that there is no worse feeling realizing that you are a sitting duck. When I heard the dogs start barking like crazy when I am taking a shower and no one else is home. Later that evening I apologized to Strad for accusing him of being "paranoid" for wanting to have a gun in the bathroom.
