They have no problem jacking up gas, liquor, or tobacco taxes though :?

This isn't a partisan issue. EVERYONE hates the Viking stadium plan. Except those who got their pockets lined a bit.

You mean Mark Dayton didn't make it a priority to get this thing passed this session? :?

Democrats were on record saying they don't like the idea of hurting low income/addicted persons with using gambling as a means to fund the deal. Why are they okay with another tobacco tax?

I suspect there is racism going on here Heffay. Since most NFL players are black, you're going to get serious push back from the GOP on a new stadium. Don't ya think?

How many democrats voted for the bill in the latest committee hearing?

Like I said, ad hominem attacks aside, everyone hates this bill, EXCEPT PEOPLE WHO ARE BEING BRIBED.

edit: Here, because I know reading is FUNdamental.

In Monday's vote, only one member of Dayton's DFL party, Rep. Michael Nelson of Brooklyn Park, voted for the bill, joining five Republican members. That angered Zellers, who is not leading the charge on the stadium but who has said the bill must draw bipartisan support to move forward.

No kidding.

Fact of the matter, if this bill would have made it to Dayton, he would have signed....so you can't say "everyone" is against it. Dayton gave no signal he was. Since 5 of the 6 "yes" votes came from the GOP, Vikings Rubes I know are blaming the Dems.

My dad played his entire career with the Vikings, and he was even against the stadium bill. Most people agree that if we can't pay for basic state services we shouldn't pay a dime for a damn football stadium.

Vikings Stadium Deal - Lies, More Lies, Damn Lies

And now it'll be rammed through as a rider on the end of session legislation.

Amazing how certain politicians are so keen to "get this passed now now now." Whats in it for them?

I will not be extorted to pay for private business enterprises. This is wrong.

Quoted for the people who didn't seem to understand the highlighted sentence. Maybe being bigger and bolder will make it a little clearer.....

What is your point? Are you saying Dayton is being bribed to get this done? How is he or his family profiting? Just curious.

Yup. You're pretty quick on the uptake there! Good work! /pat /pat

Also, you say it's Dems pushing this through, when 1 dem and 5 republicans voted FOR it in the committee. This isn't a partisan issue.

Where the heck did I say that Dems are pushing it through?

Could you elaborate on Dayton's payoff/profit from a stadium?

I don't have the specifics. I'll see what I can find though, and get back to you.
