Charges dropped against officer involved in road rage shooting

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS has confirmed with the Anoka County Attorney's Office that the felony charges filed against Robbinsdale Police Officer Landon Beard in connection to a road rage shooting last June in Coon Rapids have been dropped.

Beard had been indicted on a felony charge of making terroristic threats in the incident against 35-year-old Martin Scott Treptow.

In an exclusive interview, Treptow told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS he shot the undercover officer to protect his wife and two children.

A grand jury charged Treptow with drive by shooting, reckless discharge of a firearm and terroristic threats.

Treptow is a former security guard with a gun permit.

Not being familiar with the details, I wonder why the cop didn't shoot back? Was he in the wrong possibly? Boy, it sure is easy to sit and second guess these kinds of things without having a clue what the hell really happened. I hope I remember that if/when I get on a jury.

Funny how the Wash Co Attorney dropped the charges last week but it didn't hit the news until Friday night so it could be buried.

I dont think the police or county go around making a media scene out of these things. What it normally takes is the media being on the Ball, not a conspiracey theory, unless there is a conspiracey in the Press and the activists need to to go after the Press for with holding info from the public :o :o

Not sure if you have been in the new St Paul P.D or the Court House :?: But i have actually seen Tom Lyden at both places going over police reports and court papers looking for stories :o So i dont think it was a case of a Goverment cover up :o :o More of the reporter did not getr to washington county go over the records until late in the week :o

But just incase we all had better put on our foil anti conspiracey hats :o

For those who know something about these things...is there any possibility that if this turns out like it now looks like it will--Treptow probably found guilty and the book thrown at him while Beard walks without even a day in court due to the resources and cover of police power--that higher authorities (e.g. Federal) could be called in to investigate whether or not a civil rights violation has taken place under the cloak of police authority? Who has authority to make such a call, and how is it done?

I blame the Illuminati and their henchmen, the Bilderbergers. It's part of the sinister Brotherhood of Blue and their fiendish machinations to cover up the truth! next, it'll be the Rosicrusians and Opus Dei pulling the shutters down so Mr Treptow can be 'disappeared' like so many before him.

Break.

If Mr Treptow wants to file suit for having his Civil Rights 'ahem' violated, he need only find a leech, er, lawyer to file papers with the appropriate Federal Court. The Co. Prosecutor is not going to do the work for him, he has already determined there is no grounds to charge Beard, and he has no jurisdiction in Federal matters.

Which makes the grand jury so much theater?

Treptow and Beard were both indicted by a grand jury a few months ago. There was enough evidence then. If there wasn't enough evidence to convict, then the prosecutor really had no business chasing an indictment. If there was enough evidence then, what has changed in the meantime?

Well, you'd probably better ask the Prosecutor. Grand Juries do not decide whether or not there is sufficient evidence to convict, that's down to the jury at trial, but only whether or not there may or may not be probable cause to indict since they only hear the prosecution evidence. The Defense has no right to be heard. Prosecutors often use the GJ to test their evidence prior to trial if it's going to be a high profile case.

That still has no bearing on whether or not Mr. Treptow can or cannot file civil suit.
