I was referring to your post. Yes I read the article, then I read what I believe is not coming out yet. Remember watergate? It just kept getting bigger and bigger.

Walk could keep guns from walking so easily across the border? Hmmmm?.... How about a large fence! Wouldn't necessarily stop the problem, but could possibly slow it down significantly! But.....? Didn't some one say that a fence was nearly finished? Hmmm? :?

A fence? Didn't the Chinese try that with a nice big long wall?

Unless you're trying to create a tourist destination, I'm not sure what good a fence would do.

The border, each and every one, seems to already be a tourist attraction. :D I'm sure that the majority of these guns crossed into Mexico thru customs too. "Let's see.... 5 assault rifles, 10 shot guns, 25 pistols.... No Fruit? Ok good to go!..." ;)

Well, there was the Berlin wall, but that didn't end well for the Soviet Union either.

The existence of the Berlin wall in and of itself was not a cause, but rather a symptom of, the problems with the Soviet Union...

...and it was pretty effective.

The Great wall of China actually was pretty effective in keeping invaders out. The intent of the Berlin wall was to imprison the people and prevent them from leaving.

Here's some insight:

http://features.blogs.fortune.cnn.com/2 ... ous-truth/

A Fortune investigation reveals that the ATF never intentionally allowed guns to fall into the hands of Mexican drug cartels. How the world came to believe just the opposite is a tale of rivalry, murder, and political bloodlust.

Sorry to wander off the main topic here, but the talk about "walls" reminded me about something :)

When it comes to the border, so many people keep talking about building something “up”. I know this idea has gone around before, but I think it’s a pretty good one (if you don’t analyze it too much) :cogitating:
Dig a canal! Yep, it would be a long one, but think about it…think of all the jobs it would create, it would eliminate all those tunnels underneath, we wouldn’t have to worry about all the politics with the Panama Canal and if we fill it with problem gators and sharks, swimmers wouldn’t be a problem. With the extra sand, some of it, build high hills along the sides with sniper lookouts (moving target practice on land and water) and the rest of the sand, bring New Orleans up to sea level (OK, he actually said just bury it!)
Of course this is also the same guy who suggested that there was a very simple way to stop most of the terrorists from getting onto planes, just have topless stewardesses! Their religion doesn’t allow them to look at naked female skin!!! :hide:

What a brilliant idea! The maps clearly show the border as a straight, flat line so there should be no problems with keeping all that water the area doesn't have in it!

It is ok Heffay, some folks just do not have vision and can't understand how to make the "impossible" possible. It is fine it takes all kinds. We will find a role for you.

Pumps man, pumps. Then it might become a water ride! I have the answer! It will pay for itself as well:

COME RIDE THE ULTIMATE WATER RIDE! THE BORDER WILD RIDE!

You, yes you, can have the ultimate in a water ride. First, starting at the Mexican/Texan/Gulf border, you jump onto a raft behind 10 billion gallon per minute water pumps. Essentially flying across Texas on the U.S. side, you reach the New Mexican border where you get to put your eyeballs and teeth back where they belong. As the water slows a bit, you get to dodge the occasional stray bullet from the Mexican border as you lazily wind through the Arizona, winding into California where you can still dodge the occasional bullet, finally ending on the Pacific ocean, where only 2 riders so far have been eaten by sharks. 15$ a person, must sign multiple waivers that state you can't sue us for, well, anything.

Sounds like it could almost as fun as going down the Apple River, well with stray gunfire and everything.
