You don't open the door or go near it, can't shoot anybody outside anyway. The police let them self's in while you draw a bead on the intruders. You think "oh it's the cops" and that's the last thing you think because they don't hesitate.

I'm 99% sure if the police are gonna enter they have to announce themselves before hand. If they dont you cant be held liable for protecting youself unless you know its the police, although you would probably get shot anyway by the second guy through the door

I'm sure my estate would feel vindicated.

The threshold for no-knock should be very high. Hostage. Not for fear of losing evidence.

It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.

A hostage situation, even the possibility of it, is a whole different ball game. Is losing a handful of drugs really worth some innocent's life or well being?

So in a round about way I'm saying I highly agree with that statement.

Deputies shoot and kill man after knocking on wrong door

Postby aaron878 on Wed Jul 18, 2012 3:03 pm

He didn't answer his door with a gun, he opened the door pointing the gun at the police. There is a huge difference.

And "no knock" warrants keep getting brought up, but the police didn't have a warrant and they did knock.

As has been said, I live in fear of police kicking in my door and shooting my dog because they made a mistake, this simply doesn't apply to this situation though.

A no knock warrant just means they dont wait to knock or ring the doorbell and give you a chance to answer the door. It means they just break the door in but they DO announce themselves before entry.
