I hate to read about otherwise good guys majorly screwing up like this. It's really a shame when ego overrides common sense.

The vast majority of Law Enforcement and Military are good guys. Some occasionally make stupid mistakes, and some are just plain bad.

Smuggling military issue machine guns into the US and selling them to criminals is beyond bad. He deserves what he got.

It would be nice of there were actual studies on how many LEO's or Military personal were actual good guys compared to the civilian population. Unfortunately if there was, in this case it appears he was discharged before being prosecuted. Apparently the military didn't want to investigate the inter-workings what he was doing
