Shootout in the Unidale neighborhood of St. Paul

ST. PAUL -- St. Paul police are searching for suspects after two groups of young men opened fire on each other in the Unidale neighborhood of St. Paul.

A stray bullet struck the front window of a home, and just missed four children watching TV.

"It's a miracle that they didn't hit the kids. Thankfully, they were laying low watching TV. Imagine if one was standing up. One of them would have got it," said an unidentified family member.

One man involved in the shootout was hit in the leg. He is recovering at an area hospital.
There have not been any arrests. The motive of the shootout is unclear.

That is just sad... I'm glad the kids were missed.

Well, it may be "unclear" but it certainly isn't any mystery...

If a bullet didn't tear through the glass of a house with kids watching TV, this would have never been on the news. I saw it on Fox29 and searched through the Trib, Pioneer Press, KSAX, and WCCO before I found it on the Fox29 website. Maybe the other networks caught it now but I doubt it.

If you go down to the police station in the morning you will see people from the networks going over the police reports from the previous night weekend. But if no one is killed it is not a news worth story. Unless it is a kid who gets shot or some one dies it is not worth the air time.
