Now they're saying a rifle was found in his car, but not taken into the school. 4 hand guns were

And the shooter tried buying a rifle a few days before the shooting but was denied. Ct has a waiting period on them.

The news is so assualt weapon crazy it's rediculous. They don't even know what's going on.

I've seen a couple of things that points to a rifle:

An ME is quoted as saying the fatal wounds were rifle shots.
A Sig in 556 was apparently among the weapons recovered inside.
Also a Glock pistol inside, and a Bushmaster AR outside... in a vehicle??

The media reports remain very inconsistent about the weapons.

A Sig .556 and a Bushmaster in the same caliber would both have the same casings, obviously....This is why it's tough to speculate.

BUT, on that note:

Richard "Bo" Dietl was on Fox News network last night with Geraldo Rivera. He was part of a "panel discussion" during Geraldo's show. I was working and could only listen on the satellite radio, but I heard him say that the .223 rifle used in the school was SELECT FIRE.

I have no idea where he got this info from, or if he was just talking out of his ass, because it makes him sound knowledgeable.

Did anyone else see this?

From what I have read the rifle(s) were semi-auto or bolts. From the NYT: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/16/nyreg ... anted=1&hp

NYT wrote:Investigators have linked Ms. Lanza to five weapons: two powerful handguns, two traditional hunting rifles and a semiautomatic rifle that is similar to weapons used by troops in Afghanistan. Her son took the two handguns and the semiautomatic rifle to the school. Law enforcement officials said they believed the guns were acquired legally and were registered.

I didn't see the piece, but Dietl isn't that bright from my perspective.. Or much of an expert....

State of Connecticut Department of Emergency Services And Public Protection

Connecticut residents may purchase Machine Guns if they are capable of a “full automatic only” rate of fire. Any select fire weapon is considered an “Assault Weapon” and is prohibited by State Law.

The police on 48 hours last night said he had two handguns in his pants but used the Bushmaster .223 for the killings. In his car he had left a Saiga shotgun, presumably to handle any confrontations after he existed the building.

Rifle Wasn't Used In School Shooting

Postby xd ED on Sun Dec 16, 2012 3:01 pm

Read this on the interweb:

Sig Sauer .223-Caliber Semi-Automatic Rifle Reportedly Used By Ryan Lanza At School Shooting In Connecticut

If this guy had every gun that been mentioned in all the reporting, he would have had to make several trips back to his vehicle. Surprisingly the one thing that hasn't been offered up is the ubiquitous AK 47.

It's been my experience the Geraldo and facts are like water and electricity. They just don't go together.
