What I haven't seen anyone post yet is the influence of very realistic violent video games on young minds (6-7 year old) that should NOT be playing them. It desensitizes them to violence. Along with Hollywood and the absolute crap coming out of there! More violence, more explosions, more hate. Pick ANY "reality" show...ANY one of them....and you see one person getting in the face of another, bad mouthing them, sometimes getting into fights. Why? Because confrontation SELLS! Look at what passes as "boxing" on TV now days....all out beating the living crap out of another human being using your hands, feet, head, whatever...and beating the other guy to a bloody pulp. The past 15 to 20 years of this violent crap has desensitized kids to the actual effects of violence on another human being.
Plus, more and more kids are never taken hunting to see what REALLY happens when a living thing gets hit by a speeding bullet. To see real death and what happens with real guns when they are used. Social media isn't helping a lot either. Instead of kids getting bullied by one or two other kids at school, you now have social media to broadcast the bulling to 100's. Look at any example of the flame wars going on in this forum. It's much to easy to flame and bully someone from behind the computer screen than in person.
All of this crap adds up and if a kids psyche is weak or the parents aren't doing the best they can to help and explain the world around the kid, then something is going to snap.
It's NOT the proliferation of "assault" rifle and hi cap mags that are to blame. They are just tools.
