Not when you stay in the car and drive away at the sound of gunshots?

I bet if he would have just put it in drive and tried to run the sonovabitch down, he would have to stop shooting and start running ;)

1. Question to all.
Has anyone heard if the cops have found any evidence (empty hulls, wads) showing the weapon used was in fact a 20 gauge shotgun?

If not, could the weapon used have been a Judge .410/45LC?

Part time cop (wish I didn't have to use that word to describe him), said he saw a "pistol", not a shottie..
Could the police be looking for the wrong weapon?

I heard they are looking for a 20 gauge shotgun and a black van with a noisy exhaust system.

Lack of casing(s) might indicate a double barrel shotgun.

Might it be that he saw a sawed off 20ga shotgun and mistook it for a pistol?

I'm curious as to why they would think the shotgun used was sawed off. Some reports indicate slugs were used. A slug, shot, a wad or shell casing would narrow down the gauge. Not sure what would indicate the shotgun was sawed off. A burr from cutting the barrel might mark a slug. It wouldn't anything to mark shot.

I'm also curious where Reiter went after he "backed out of the lot". 911 transcripts indicate the bartender and possibly another bar patron saw a black van in the area, maybe with bad exhaust. No mention of the second squad car Reiter was in. If he was in sight, why did the bartender go back inside to make the 911 call about Decker, when flagging the cop would have been quicker and probably more productive? Unless he was nowhere in sight?

Larson says tests were done on his hands within the hour after he was arrested. I seriously doubt they found anything to indicate he had recently fired a weapon and still turned him loose. There's a missing shotgun and a cop that ski-daddled the scene. Uhm, something being overlooked here? I wonder what legal protections Reiter is being afforded in all of this. Does the Thin Blue Line form to protect it's own....from it's own?

That narrows it down.

It's kind of weird how immediately afterward they called it an ambush....I questioned that, because it seemed to me that the only people that KNEW the police were coming were the parents of the Welfare checkee, and the cops.......unless the parents were in on the ambush, which I find unlikely....

Bottom line, there is a cop killer on the loose...
Never mind the typos. My keyboard is full of beer, crumbs and Dr. Peper........and .........the typo and grammer police can go to........HE..!.....no...wait a minute......California!

They vandalized... err, searched... the first suspect's apartment pretty thoroughly it seems. I do feel bad for the guy, who did nothing wrong but now is having his life turned upside down because of this. I wonder if he'll have any recompense for what they did to his domicile.

Besides, how is conduct like this going to help them when they finally get a legitimate suspect. Their treatment of the first suspect coupled with contradictory and ever-changing statements from the late Officer Decker's partner might make it harder to get a conviction if and when the defense brings it up in court.

I'm glad the guy showed what they did.

That's not investigating. That's vindictive.

Egads, those photos are pretty rough to look at.

I've been involved with a number of search warrants, they can get messy, but there's no need to destroy the place in the process.

Whoever "conducted" that "search" pretty much made sure no follow up investigating could be done, didn't they?

Looks like gang retaliation, not an investigation.

The same people that did this are continuing "the search"......

Igot to go along on a search in Roseville. They were thorough but didn't destroy the place ... of course, they also didn't suspect him of killing a cop ...
