Under Illinois *state* law, no exemption.

I realize there's FOPA. You realize people have been convicted in NJ and NY, for example, and received no protection from FOPA?

I've heard stories, yes. Without details, I'm going to assume they broke the law. I remember some guy carrying his luggage in the airport because he missed a connection or something like that. Even the NRA-ILA web site tells you to keep your hands off whatever your gun is contained in while travelling in states like NY/NJ.

IL is not restricting your right to drive through with a properly cased firearm. Period.

Did you go read the statute being proposed?

I've been watching the HBO series 'Boardwalk Empire' about the prohibition era.

Prohibition in the United States was a national ban on the sale, manufacture, and transportation of alcohol, in place from 1920 to 1933.[1] The dry movement was led by rural Protestants in both political parties, and was coordinated by the Anti-Saloon League. The ban was mandated by the Eighteenth Amendment to the Constitution, and the Volstead Act set down the rules for enforcing the ban and defined the types of alcoholic beverages that were prohibited.

It's fascinating because it's the same country but the culture might as well be The Stone Age...Women and Blacks had a completely different existence....it's set decades before the progressive post-war racial equality movement of the 50's.

If you were a 50 year old black male, most likely you were barely literate and your parents were slaves.

Women couldn't vote (that's actually a good thing but I'll leave that alone for now) :o :o :o

THEY PASSED A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT TO OUTLAW ALCOHOL. :o :o :o

My point concerning the new gun laws in Illinois is.....

YES, we are that stupid, check recent history....The Masses are Asses.

On top of that........ NEWS FLASH: November 6, 2012... America has Fallen.

I wouldn't be so chipper if these laws were proposed in MN but if passed in Illinois it could

serve as an Air-Raid Siren to other states.

I don't know about manufacturing, but I'm pretty sure all the repairs and custom work is done in Geneseo.
Yeh, I guess as prosperous as Il is, they can loose a few more jobs.

The copy of the bill I read said registration must be done in 240 days which is about 8 months. Even though, if this turd passed I wouldn't go. As it is now I hate driving through Chicago to get to Camp Perry.
I will never apologize for being an American.

IIRC, not all that long ago, I suggested someone build a bridge, from Wisconsin to Indiana! ;)

... hmmm ... then again, I wonder if they could span it all the way to Ohio?! :?

Anecdotes are not evidence but IL treats the FOPA as an affirmative defense. Sure, you may be covered ... Come back and fight it in court ...

How many people are going to fight it over a $500 Glock?

IL Ban Legislation

Postby adoptedson on Thu Jan 03, 2013 9:09 am

Yes 240 days. Looks like the bill would be in full effect as of 1/1/14.

Better cross your fingers here boys. IF this gets through it will embolden anti-gunners in state congresses everywhere. As others have stated, don't think it couldn't happen here.
