I'm surprised no one gave a Kudos to the manager. After all, aren't the police and other law enforcement officers actually part of the general public? Or are they part of an elite which are exempt from the rules the rest of society must follow. If guns are banned in a given place, then it should apply to all. An exception can be made for responding to an emergency as is done for schools and the Post Office but for non-emergency visits there should be no difference. Maybe then there will be some reasonableness regarding these types of postings and a change in attitudes.

In MN, we're just plain exempt from the school restrictions, no emergency required.

By federal law, were exempt from MOST other states' laws as well.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

The General Manager came out to override the supervisor's actions but by that time the checkerboard had been overturned....the Chief memoed the department to eat ANYWHERE but Denny's...

Good for the Chief. I always feel better when I see armed police in a restaurant.

I've been known to actually BUY an officer's meal when I see them out eating.
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.

Bribery, eh? ;-)

I usually assume that the restaurant will be comping their meal anyway, so I tell my server to put it on their tab.

Without being there to know what actually happened I find it hard to believe that any patron would be uncomfortable about the guns once they found out that they were LEO's. Unfortunately the actions of one employee has now tarnished the entire business and even after the store GM and corporate tried to make amends the Chief is holding a grudge. That's like saying one time a cop was rude to me and even though the Chief appologized I'm going to call the news and report it. I think it would be a good idea for that store manager to follow up with the reporter to give their version of what happened and again offer an appology.

I'd like to know what gun that female officer was carrying that got the customers upset?

Should get a bunch of carriers together and go to breakfast at a local Denny's.

Did this really happen?
That seems kind of petty, and vindictive.
