Homeland Security Buys more Ammo!- 21 million rounds

What the heck is going on ??

http://www.infowars.com/dhs-purchases-2 ... mmunition/

An approximation of how many rounds of ammunition the DHS has now secured over the last 10 months stands at around 1.625 billion. In March 2012, ATK announced that they had agreed to provide the DHS with a maximum of 450 million bullets over four years, a story that prompted questions about why the feds were buying ammunition in such large quantities.

To put that in perspective, during the height of active battle operations in Iraq, US soldiers used 5.5 million rounds of ammunition a month. Extrapolating the figures, the DHS has purchased enough bullets over the last 10 months to wage a full scale war for almost 30 years.

One could argue that this is as disconcerting as our current feargrabfliction.

I'd be interested to see of it was an open PO, or a single purchase set for delivery. My guess, considering the source is that it is an allotment for X amount of years. Effectively locking in the price for within a certain %

How does this number compare to previous orders? Is it an increase or a decrease?

Needs more context before I can be properly outraged.

Heffay, maybe you'll luck out and it's just to supply the Mexican 'anti-drug' forces.

The answer is, do numbers really matter if it's going to a cause easily guised with subterfuge? what good is comparison if the context is not constant? If It saves just one life...

Write ATK and ask them to "just say no!" To Uncle Sam. We citizens will take up the slack.

If they don't they may be left with only one customer, and get paid like Medicare pays, a portion of what they're worth...

I'm more concerned if these are more hollow points. Who the hell is letting them buy the expensive stuff as range ammo!?

Truth might be less sinister as we think. They might figure we need X amount in storage for sustained operations for X amount of time, plus we need X amount to outfit every tactical team member, X amount for range + qual, and X amount to replenish what we use in say 5 to 10 years.

My Trp had over 100k rds alloted just for ourselves, and we probably expended around 100k during the tour. But you always have to have that 100k on hand, replacing what you use immediately.

I'm more worried about the 2,700 MRAPs order. You use an MRAP when you want to be invincible.

They have always bought bulk HP's.

I'd listen to this guy more than infowars.....Someone who has been deployed would have more experience, not infowars.

The DOD stands to lose 500B in funding due to the impending sequester. I'd stock up on the essentials too.
