A "squirt gun" is still a gun. The school administration was just doing what they have to do in order to keep all the kids and staff safe. The gun owner should recognize the fact that he shouldn't have firearms in a home with a child who views "guns" as a means for revenge. Police have a duty to keep the public safe. If his friend has a conscience, he'll turn the guns in to the authorities.

I don't see what me voting for Obama has to do with keeping kids safe. This kid broke the school rule: no talking/thinking/gesturing/drawing/playing in any way shape or form about guns. He (and his father) clearly need a little space between them and dangerous weapons. New York has a great new set of gun laws that I think we can all agree are pretty reasonable.

Dang! I didn't think "playin" rose to the level of "trollin". If it makes you feel any better, I can't actually post my real feelings about this story. It'd be a violation.

Apparently... You'd have thought that one would have been obvious, here.

This is a pretty clear example of why so many liberal policies and thinking is just plain broken. They are incapable of discerning the difference between two similar yet different things.

Ya know.. cause a "squirt gun" is used while the parties involved, laugh, smile and generally enjoy the hell outta it. "Squirt guns" pose no real threat.

A 10 year old is capable of seeing the differences here yet you're not.

I guess I agree with the school in calling the kids dad and telling him what was said, but the suspension is taking it too far. This is almost as ridiculous as the kid who was suspended for "throwing" a "grenade" on the playground. The school reporting the "event" to the authorities may or may not be standard protocol, but suspending the fathers permit is absolutely ridiculous. Good thing the dad had enough sense to take his firearms to a friends for safe keeping.

I just want to clarify, I agree with the school because it would be a worse situation for the kid if they actually did bring a BB gun to school the next day. Rocks on the playground are more dangerous than a squirt gun, I know cause thats how me and my friends used to throw them at each other for fun.....Probably explains a lot.

And I spent most of the week around nieces and nephews where there were toy guns aplenty. Ran out of time so no real guns got shot but there were toy bows and arrows, swords, knives, battleaxes, spears, etc. Since the kids were all home schooled... some school even happened too! Sooo... it depends on the school! ;)

Then as a bonus, one of the young women at church today told me what she was looking to get for rifles and was wondering what I thought... then her mom showed up and said she wanted an "evil looking" AR-15!!

If you are not kidding, I feel really bad for your kids.

Soon kids can't sharpen their pencils anymore. Teachers must dull the pencils before they can us it.
