Wait, I haven't heard that. So the anti crowd is giving us booze for our guns? Do they have to be functional or is it like the gun buy back program. How much 18 yr old single malt can I get per gun? These are important questions.

I think he was hinting at the sticky icky being legalized all over the place.in which case, the correct question is how much chronic can you get...and I would suggest a pound for pound swap of gun for cheeb is a good starting point for negotiations.

Actually, it was a little too subtle reference to the growing dependence on the state to provide for basic needs, obamaphones, free interwebs, etc. ;) The whole thing reeks of bad history, not Cheech and Chong.

...and yet people think the government will take care of them. Seen New Orelan's and especially the Ninth Ward lately? It's 8 years ago and it's STILL crap.

As for the native americans, look at Red Lake, Pine Ridge, oh yeah....great places. /sarcasm

It might be interesting to read a somewhat in-depth analysis of the 1800's domestication of Native Americans vs. a lotta the social programs and civil rights violations of non-Native Americans of the last 50yr 'er so! :geek:

There is no such thing as Obama phones.

Why do people insist on spreading BS?

wow.

Broke is a financial state and poor is a mental state. I believe because she's the latter, it largely contributes to her also being the former.

Today, a House subcommittee asked why the program, paid for by fees charged to U.S. phone subscribers, tripled in cost since 2008.

The program, which is administered by the nonprofit Universal Service Administrative Co., has grown rapidly as wireless carriers persuaded regulators to let people use the program for cellphone service. It pays carriers $9.25 a customer per month toward free or discounted wireless service.

So, a program that has been around for over a decade started in the Reagan administration that is paid for by user fees collected by the carriers is Obamaphones.

Got it. People are dumb. I think that is the point...

It was enough to keep Obama in President, apparently.

No BS. Obamacare, Obamaphone........As my old friend Bill once said, "What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet."

Is there a difference between a tax on your phone bill and a fee?

“Obama phone” is the widely used — and misleading — nickname of a 28-year-old federal program known as Lifeline. It provides discounts, averaging $9.25 a month, on phone service for 13.3 million low-income subscribers.

In the 31 / 2 years after false rumors started that the Obama administration was giving free cellphones to poor people — and six months after a racially charged video about it went viral — [see video link in above post] a once-obscure phone service subsidy is getting renewed scrutiny on Capitol Hill.

There are growing calls in Congress to end or drastically cut back Lifeline; later this month, the House Energy and Commerce Committee will hold a hearing that could help determine its fate.

“The program has nearly tripled in size from $800 million in 2009 to $2.2 billion per year in 2012,” the senior Republicans on the Energy and Commerce Committee wrote in a March 26 letter to the Democratic minority. “American taxpayers — and we as their elected representatives — need to know how much of this growth is because of waste, fraud and abuse.”
