Afterthought:

We should 'Claim Victory'....somebody (don't know who...could be Shelley Leeson ???) 'took the high road' and 'de-escalalted'

Repeat....in the light of all the hoopla....the Gun People did the right thing....and it was 'Retreat' Tactical retreat. No losing face etc...they just made the right move. Take a deep breath and retreat.

City Pages / Strib...should update their blog pubs to recognize that....the gun toters did the right thing. Of course, they're not going to give us credit.

A 'Tactical Retreat' was exercised and there was no conflict.

I'm going to 'Declare Victory' and withdraw. :) :) :)

this whole thing was an ill conceived notion from the start. With no plan to address the media there is no way that this can be seen as a win for the gun "community". This is a big black eye and a cheap give away win to Joan and Heather. You can bet this will be paraded in front of the 2014 Legislative session by JoaN and Heather. Just one more thing that will have to be dealt with next year.

I can't disagree with you. I wanted to get some praise in there for 'walk away' 'walk away'

"Ill concieved notion from the start" yes AND assinine. But my assessment is 'no harm / no foul' I don't want to label this Shelley Leeson as a goofball and I want to be positive.

I do not see it as a win for Joan and Heather. But if there were as little as a 'shouting match' with police called we certainly would be smeared with that...there was 'no foul' :)

Nick Colmen, Star Trib, City Pages, all three sources that got negative articles out against "crazy" gun owners... there was a bit of a foul. If you don't think Joan or Heather are going to take advantage you should visit their blogs and Facebook pages

Ok But I did read Nick Coleman's blog and had PITY. What an EFFING DUNCE. He's what 60 with the crybaby attitude of a teenager....can't take that Douche-Nozzle seriously. This could have really gone south. and on the Day-Of there wasn't a peep.
Bullet dodged IMHO. :) And I hesitate to say this but....I hope this Shelley Leeson is listening and doesn't pull this kind of stunt again...My guess is that she got 'Talked-to' by 'someone' If they mess with the other Open Streets events, I'll be "talkin' to" her.
(respectfully of course) :)

You know, the option of an open carry BYOB BBQ is always an option for someone like Leeson. Plenty of parks in North. Mu suggestion would be just keep it non political. Come, bring something to cook or share and have a good time. No demonstrations, etc. if the antis show up to pick a fight, tell em politely, "i am legally carrying, and that is just how it is going to be. Would you like a brat? Sauerkraut on that?"

Of course, sometimes the surest way to whip a person up into a frenzy is just simply to be nice to them.

Absolutely agreed.

Life is an OC event. No need to have a special announcement about it. Just carry within the law and go on about your business.
